His new song has an important message! Wincent Weiss (27), who made his breakthrough seven years ago with a cover version of “Under my skin” on YouTube, has now released a new song. This was inspired by the violent death of the African American George Floyd by a white cop last week. The singer took this tragedy as an opportunity and deals with the topic of racism in his new piece of music.
The work was created in collaboration with his artist colleague Nico Santos (27) and the producer team Achtabahn, reports Wincent towards the dpa. The song is entitled “Is this still a reality?” and has only been available on his Instagram profile since Wednesday. He reveals that he and his team were actually planning to write a new pop number. “Then we saw the pictures and videos from the USA, talked about the topic for a long time and didn’t feel like we wanted to make a pop song afterwards, says the musician seriously.
The German chart striker found it very liberating to write this song because he was simply stunned by what was currently happening in the United States. “I can process things in music much better than posting any pictures or sentences”, explains the “be music” interpreter.
