Sad news for all Berlin fashion lovers! The popular Fashion Week has been taking place in the capital twice a year since 2007. Successful designers like Wolfgang Joop (75), Marina Hoermanseder and Marcel Ostertag regularly present their new collections there, the stars and starlets are sitting in the infamous Front Row. But that is over now: The fashion week is moving – to Frankfurt am Main!
The mayor of Frankfurt has now confirmed this Markus Becker towards the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Accordingly, the Frankfurt Fashion Week will take place in the coming year, which should both polish the city’s reputation and strengthen its importance as a traditional trade fair location. “The goal is not to compete with German cities, but with Milan and Paris!”, said Fashion Week organizer Anita Tillmann, CDU head of the economic department Markus Frank also assured: “The Eiserne Steg (editor’s note: pedestrian bridge over the Main) will be the most beautiful catwalk in Europe and the Zeil (editor’s note: popular shopping street) the longest fashion mile!”
Many fans should not be enthusiastic about this innovation: after all, Berlin Fashion Week has been the highlight of the year for many influencers and models. Supermodel Coco Rocha (31) said in January Promiflashhow much she likes the Berlin Fashion Week: “The fashion scene here is growing and getting bigger. It’s getting better!”
