On a new one Facebook-Photo shows Crown Princess Victoria’s sister with her three offspring beaming happily at the camera. All four hold the Swedish flag in the air for the festive occasion and even wear matching blue and yellow clothing. The cute picture was probably taken in Florida, as numerous palm trees can be seen in the background. How Chamber of Commerce June 6th is of great importance in Swedish history: It was on this day that Gustav Wasa was made king in 1523. The country had ended its union with Denmark and Norway at the same time and had become independent. Nevertheless, the significant day was not immediately designated a national day, but was first made the so-called Swedish flag day in 1916. However, since 1983 it has been the official Swedish national day.
