It’s actually the same every April: All major social media portals are littered with photos of influencers and celebrities posing in front of a ferris wheel in a stylish hippie look – of course, we’re talking about the Coachella Festival! The music event in Indio in Coachella Valley, California is always THE event of the year for hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world. But now, because of the current crisis situation, the party-goers are being thwarted: The Coachella 2020 was officially canceled!
Actually, there was still a glimmer of hope for the fans of the mega festival: Originally, it was said that the event, at which stars like Travis Scott (29) and Calvin Harris (36) should appear, would be postponed until October. But now the Riverside County Health Officer has announced that both Coachella as well as the smaller Stagecoach Country Music Festival. The reason: “There are international-scale gatherings that attract hundreds of thousands of participants from many countries who are badly affected by the current pandemic,” cited Deadline the press release.
The risk is simply too high that the respiratory disease could break out at one of the festivals. “It would simply be impossible to track down those affected and those at risk”, it says in the statement. Are you surprised that that Coachella will not take place? Vote!
