In conversation with People Cait reviewed the very exciting half a decade – and came to a positive conclusion: “Looking back, I can say that when I wake up in the morning I’m really happy with my life!” And not only their gender has changed, but also their way of thinking. The 70-year-old began to campaign for the LGBTQ community, want to support people who also feel uncomfortable in their bodies or who are discriminated against – and who may not have the opportunities that their celebrity status gave them. In the past three years, she has been quietly awarding scholarships to trans students and putting her foundation’s focus on supporting trans young people.
For Caitlyn gender reassignment was a late but very important step. In the interview she remembered when she could really understand for the first time that she can now live as a woman: when she could hold her new driver’s license in her hands! “It was so emotional.
