Magdalena Neuner (33) gives an honest interview about her motherhood. As a biathlete, she celebrated numerous successes before retiring from competitive sports in 2012. Afterwards she concentrated on her family life: in 2014 she and her husband Josef Holzer became parents of a daughter, two years later their son followed. In addition to great moments, living with two small children also means a lot of stress: Magdalena was on the verge of burnout after the birth of her secondborn!
“After the birth of our second child, I had really bad health problems. I developed an overactive thyroid gland, my heart was pounding, I was often completely over-excited and lost a lot of weight,” said the 33-year-old in the Colorful-Interview. Magdalena, who already had a burnout at 20, was on the verge of suffering again. She had to admit: “If you don’t do anything less now, you’ll collapse. It doesn’t help anyone.”
The current quarantine also poses Magdalena regularly face challenges, as she honestly admitted: “I had a couple of real crying fits, so I don’t know myself at all. You just get on each other’s nerves, the children me, but I am sure the children too.” Her son in particular was suffering from the situation because he needed children of the same age around him. “He’s just in a bad mood all the time, he never was before. Sometimes I’ve reached my limits,” said the Olympic champion.
