14 Bollywood actors who portrayed the Royal Kings on screen

Bollywood actors live like a king, but some larger-than-life actors got a chance to live Raja’s grand life in front of the camera. There are not many movies in Bollywood to clarify the history, however, some period drama films in Bollywood showed us our favorite actors as kings.

So here we present you the royal list of celebrities who have been the king in films. Check out the list of top 14 Bollywood actors portraying kings on screen.

1. Ranveer Singh as Maratha Peshwa Bajirao

One of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s most ambitious projects was Bajirao Mastani. In the film, Ranveer played the fiery Maratha Peshwa Bajirao. Ranveer also completely redeemed the Marathi look and dialect. The film was one of the biggest hits of 2015.

2. Prithviraj Kapoor as Emperor Akbar

Mughal-e-Azam became a cult in Bollywood. The film featured the romantic story of Salim and Anarkali. However, the bulk of the story focused on the tragic father-son relationship between Salim and Emperor Akbar. In K Asif’s work, Dilip Kumar played the role of Rajkumar Salim, while Prithviraj Kapoor played Emperor Akbar.

3. Sunil Dutt as Magadha Emperor Ajatshatru

Do you know that Sunil Dutt played the great Magadha emperor Ajatshatru in the 1966 film Amrapali. The film featured the story of Amrapali, the royal courtesan of Vaishali in ancient India around 500 BCE.

4. Hrithik Roshan as Mughal Emperor Akbar

Whenever we talk about kings, some fat man’s terrible obesity image comes out until Ashutosh Gowariker introduced us to the slim and thin Mughal Emperor Akbar. In the 2008 historical drama Jodhaa Akbar, Hrithik played Emperor Akbar.

5. Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh

Shahid Kapoor played the role of Rajput glory Mehraval Raja Ratan Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Padmavat. Maharawal Ratan Singh was the king of Chittor and was famous for fighting with Alauddin Khilji, the Sultan of Delhi.

6. Jitendra as Lord Rama

In the film Love Kush, Jeetendra played Lord Ram, the king of Ayodhya, while Arun Govil played Lakshman. In this film, Jaya Parda portrayed Sita’s character.

7. Dilip Kumar as Prince Salim / Samrat Jahangir

While Prithviraj Kapoor was playing the role of Emperor Akbar in the film, Dilip Kumar played his son Prince Salim aka Samrat Jahangir. Despite the film being sold as a love story, it is also famous for its father-son relationship.

8. Mithun Chakraborty as Raja Prithvi Singh

In the movie Veer, Mithun Chakraborty played Raja Prithvi Singh. The film was directed by Anil Sharma and featured Salman Khan in the lead role. In the film, Raja Prithvi Singh leads a small tribe to fight against the British.

9. Arbaaz Khan as Prince Aurangzeb

In the 2005 epic Taj Mahal, an eternal love story, Arbaaz Khan played the envious prince Aurangzeb. The film was directed by Akbar Khan. The film was multi-starrer but rested at the box office. However, critics have praised the efforts of the actors and producers.

10. Jackie Shroff as King Gyanendra Singh of Madhavigarh

Jackie Shroff played a negative character in the period drama Veer. He portrayed the character of King Gyanendra Singh of Madhavgarh, who helped the British to rule the nation. In the film, he played the role of Zarine Khan’s father.

11. Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, ruler of Delhi Sultanate

Ranveer Singh again got a chance to play the role of Alauddin Khilji, the Delhi Sultanate in Padmavat. The film featured the story of the ruthless Khilji and her passion to see Rani Padmavat. Ranveer’s energetic performance in the film was praised by fans as well as critics.

12. Salman Khan as Rajkumar Veer Pratap Singh

Finally, Veer Pratap Singh from the film Veer. Salman Khan played the character of Titanic in the film, who went abroad to study and then helped Raja Gyanendra Singh and his tribesmen to fight the British.

13. Shahrukh Khan as Emperor Ashoka

Shah Rukh Khan played the role of King Ashoka in the film Ashoka. Ashoka was the most clever and ruthless king of the Maurya dynasty. He had fought many wars but changed his mind after the destruction of the Kalinga war.

14. Kabir Bedi as Emperor Shah Jahan

Kabir Bedi played Emperor Shah Jahan in the 2005 epic Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story. The film has the story of building the Taj Mahal and the politics of the state.
